Hi, I'm travelling round Rwanda and would like to get involved in some volunteer work for 1-2 weeks only. Can anyone recommend any good organisations?

For your benefit or theirs?????????????
Africa does not need this type of volunteer.
How about one year and you might be getting closer.
Cheers.

Thanks for this helpful response. I've actually been living in Africa for the last year and now, while travelling, wanted to get involved in some local projects which can be worthwhile for communities.
Don't jump in with sarcastic comments when you know nothing about me or my situation!

Pip, 1 or 2 weeks, seriously!!!!!!!!!!
If you have lived in Africa for 1 year then you should know better!!!!!
Stay for that extra year and then you might get close as YOU know.
Cheers.

In Rwanda there are thousands of young people who are looking for work.
If you have some very special skills, like a brain surgeon, your work might be helpful for communities, but otherwise you really can't do much in one week that local people can't do.
Why all the negativity? There is always use for volunteers for something. I live in Denmark, and even this country need volunteers.
Of course Pippa can help with something. I am sure he/she has no intentions of stealing somebody's job, and I am sure he/she knows that such a short stay won't do any significant change...
Helping somebody is not a sin.
Hello,
I know two places where you can do volunteer...
www.ubuntuedmonton.org
and
http://www.preferpreschool.org.uk/volunteer.html
Good luck to you !

Thanks for the above links and more positive messages! I've found a few charities who can offer short term placements to help out with local projects so it will be nice to use my time effectively for a while out here.
