Hi

Im currently in Rwanda but need to get to Malawi for the next part of our travels is it possible to do this overland? We don't mind traveling but if it is excessive then we would probably rethink our route.

Any suggestions?

Becky

Yes it is. There is plenty of information on this branch if you search, but as I understand it the surest routes are (a) coach from Kigali or Bujumbura to Dar, then coach to Malawi border (each of these being a day and a half), or (b) by road to Kigoma, then by ferry to the last stop in Tanzania or to Zambia and then to Malawi. (There are cargo possibilities from Bujumbura too, but those can be problematic.) The ferry is infrequent and gets commandeered by the UN from time to time, but it must be a beautiful trip and that would be my choice.

Travel pics, many from Africa and Middle East/Central Asia.
The newest are from Algeria, South Korea and Taiwan.
