Am trying to book my Gorilla trek by calling ORTPN. Neither or the numbers are working:

(250) 576514 or (250) 573396

Dialing from Canada, I am using the standard 011 prior to this number. I got the numbers from the Rwanda tourism site:
http://www.rwandatourism.com/contact.htm</a>

I get different messages saying it's not a valid number.

Anyone else who has called recently having the same issue...are there new numbers and the site has not been updated?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks.

yes, i think phone numbers in Rwanda have changed

some digits were added

for instance, hotel Umubano in Kigali is now Tel: +250 (0)2 52 59 35 00

I think for mobile phones they added 78 after the 0 (making it a ten digits number)

can others confirm this?

Yea, there was a change to numbers in Rwanda back in 2009. I always add 250 to my calls to places with 5-digits (like your above:

+250-250-576514

Here is an example, like yours for the Serena Hotel in Kigali. The number on their website states:

Tel: (+250) 597100
Fax: (+250) 597101

But you'll have to add an additional 250 to this call:

Tel: (+250) 250-597100
Fax: (+250) 250-597101

There is info on the web regarding this, but this can be a little confusing as well:

http://www.wtng.info/wtng-250-rw.html

Try the additional 250 before the given number.

Thanks for getting back to me. I ended up adding 252 and it worked...didn't try 250...

However, they told me I need to email to book and get the details for the transfer...which defeated the purpose of calling in the first place!

Gozone,

Man, Rwanda is not Nigeria! Nothing has changed.

Gozone is right all the numbers changed last year. Mobile phone numbers have had a 78 added and all landline numbers a 252. Of course ORTPN being the tourism shop window and one of the key government departments has not bothered to update any of the information on its website, it just miraculously expects visitors to know that telephone numbers have changed.

Sarah,

We were talking about this year.

Let me tell you one thing: 9 Paul Kagame alike would be enough to save the entire
planet earth. He is a progressive person with no perfectionist attitude.

I hope - very willingly, that one day I will be able to clear ineffecient corrupt UN agencies and useless NGOs clean out of Africa. In that mean-time, enjoy your current status.

Thanks. I am neither an NGO nor a corrupt UN agency. I'm glad you think so highly of Paul Kagame.

How would you mathematically relate hobby to Nigeria in an equation?
