Hi - just wondering if it's possible to get back to Kigali from Ruhengeri after the gorilla trek, either by car or bus. Hoping to make it back in time for a night flight.

Shouldn't be a problem, you visit the gorilla's early in the morning and should be back in Ruhengeri by early afternoon at the latest. If my memory is correct it's about a 2-3 hour bus journey to Kigali.

Yes, should be no problem making it back, but you will usually drive during daylight hours, which is much safer. I have only used private cars, so do not have current info about buses.

Maybe you could tell your guides before you leave Kinigi in the morning that you prefer not to visit the gorilla group that is the furthest away.
The closest gorilla groups might enable you to be back around noon. If you catch for instance the 3 pm bus from Ruhengeri, you will be in Kigali around 5 pm, so you could be at the airport before 6.
