Thanks everyone for your suggestions and advice! I will bring my hiking boots and it looks like I have a lot of good dining choices in Kigali. We will do lunch on the rooftop of the Hotel Milles Collines.

Gosh...I am not Ethiopian, nor living in Addis. But, here in Chicago we have some good Ethiopian restaurants so I am lucky to have choices!

Hi there,

Adding to that= I am traveling for 3 months and would like to avoid heavy boots if possible- would sturdy hiking shoes (not tennis shoes) suffice for trekking?

Hi,

Sturdy hiking shoes will do the job. They will probably get very muddy all the way, but you can get someone from your hotel/guesthouse to clean them afterwards.
