Hi, is it feasible and reasonable to do a day trip to the Genocide Memorials in Nyamata in the morning (from Kigali) and be back in time to head to Ruhengeri in the afternoon?

It is possible with a private vehicle, and even with public transport. I recommend picking up a copy of the Bradt guide to Rwanda. I planned to just wing it, but ended up buying one there!

It's possible, but if you are going to Nyamata, why not go to Ntarama as well, an equally interesting and tragic genocide site, and go to Ruhengeri the next day Most of the private car services I contacted would do an 8 hour trip for a set fee, regardless of the places visited. You might be able to do the genocide memorial at Murambi as well. I agree that the Brandt guide is the best and well worth purchasing.
