I am about to go to Gitarama for a year. I will be outside Gitarama in Kavumu. I would like to know what kind of internet connections are possible. Is there wifi? High speed? only at internet cafes? Also I would like to know the cost. Thanks

Never unbderstood why, but the MTN Rwanda website has plenty of information regarding types of services and costs and all in English. Hope this give you a little insight. Cannot comment on specific coverage for Kavumu (or Gitarama), but Rwanda is tiny and this is one of the larger ISP providers in the country:

see the yahoo group kigali life for discussion and experiences of different internet providers. MTN is considered the best but you have to check the coverage in that specific place. I am using MTN wireless and it is slow by any standards and occasionally down but otherwise reasonable. high speed and Rwanda do not connect in my mind at the mo.... perhaps when we get the connection to seacomm.....
