I’d like to recommend an independent Rwandan guide/driver. I have used his services numerous times in 2009 and most recently, throughout July, 2010 as a driver for everything from gorilla trekking, monkey trekking, trips back and forth to Kigali, Ruhengeri, etc...
His name is Fidele Muhire. He is based in Musanze (Ruhengeri) and he is extremely professional, speaks English, Kinyarwanda, French, Swahili, and a bit of Spanish. He is quick to respond to emails and will try to accommodate your itinerary or help you plan one. His rates are competitive and quite fair.
He loves his country and loves the tourism business.
He can also arrange off the beaten path cultural tourism activities as well.
