Please can someone tell me if it is possible to get gorilla trekking permits at only a few days notice. I'm planning on being in Rwanda in three days time, from Saturday 13 to Friday 19 November. Any advice would be really appreciated. Cheers, Gary

Hi,

I may have just been lucky, but I turned up to the park office in Kinigi at 7am last Tues and got a permit for the gorillas on the spot, for that day, and paid in cash at the time. There were still quite a few left. It's the low season, so there's a fair chance of getting a permit, especially on a weekday if you have a little bit of flexibility. Just to be sure though, you should call the main ORTPN office in Kigali to check first.

Good luck!

I was there around start of December and rocked up at the ORTPN office in Kigali and got permits for the next day. Seemed like there was plenty of spaces left. Not sure if it would be different at this time of year.

Can you pay for the permit with Credit Card/ local currency or just US dollar cash?

If I remember correctly they take Visa.
