hi travellers,

Does anyone know the best way to contact and place the required money down securely on the permit booking with the Rwandan tourist board (ORTPN) for gorilla permits? I have visited their site- is it best to call them direct and reserve a place or email- I have read on here (before posting this) that the ORTPN do not answer emails- is that correct?

Essentially, if you have booked your permit recently (and were in UK or at least outside of Rwanda) at the time, can you share with me how you did it please?

many many thanks in advanced,

Travel safely!

Send them an email. I emailed them last week and they got back to me within a couple of hours. It seems like all the permits are booked until October so the best bet is to get in touch with one of the tour operators. I'm in the process of doing this at the moment so pm me if you want some more info.

I call them a few weeks ago and got permits for June 28th. I found that they are somewhat responsive to email but seem to work better through phone calls. I had to wire them the $$. Also, I'm told, by ORTPN, that they'll be open the previous day (on a Sunday) so that I can pick up my permits. I hope that this is true and that everything goes well.

They had a number of full days around the time I wanted to book, but there were definitely options as of a few weeks ago.

hi guys,
Ok permits are booked- email confirm that I have two permits now as the money is wired to RDB successfully.

What is the next step- arranging transport from where you pick up the permits to the begining of the track? how do I go about this? any tips or warnings appreciated, being that we are doing it completely independantly.

Also places to stay costs and description would be great...

Thanks guys,

Athena
