Hi,

Has anyone tracked the Golden Monkeys in Udanda or Rwanda? Feedback on which is better as far as numbers, visibility, habituation? I will be passing by Kisoro en route from Lake Bunyoni to Ruhengiri in Rwanda. I could easily stop for a couple of days at Mgahinga Park, or add this activity after gorilla tracking in Rwanda. Any input is much appreciated.

Thanks.

My daugther and I did this the day after I went in for gorilla tracking in Volcanoes/Rwanda. It was fun - I wouldn't compare it to seeing gorillas - but my 10 year old loved it. they are hard to see, but there were so many of the monkeys you felt like you were surrounded by them. They were all over the tree tops and jumping from branch to branch. I am glad we did it, but probably wouldn't do it again if we went back.
Good luck!

I saw them in Rwanda too and have the same experience as #1. It is fun as it is always exciting to enter a rain forest not knowing exactly what too expect. Uncomparable to a gorilla trip, but if you have the time and money, and go with the right attitude, it is a worthwile experience.

Thanks to both of you for the responses. I'm a monkey freak so will definitely do this, just a matter of where. I'm wondering in Rwanda, would I have to hire a driver, like with the gorillas, or do the treks begin from the park office. Thanks again.

You need a car. It's like with the gorillas. The treks don't start from the park office, you have to do the first part driving on a bad road.
If you are a monkey freak, you will surely like it.

Thanks gozone. Looks like I'll make a stop in Mgahinga before heading to Uganda, as I think it will be cheaper, both in fees and transportation.
