Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had an idea of how long I would have to wait in Kigali to get a permit around Aug 10 for Gorilla Tracking at the Parc National des Volcans?

I will be travelling to Uganda and Rwanda from Aug 1 to Agu 28, and I would really like to have to opportunity to track gorillas.
However, I understand that permits are mostly sold out in Uganda and I tried to e-mail the ORTPN in Kigali, without success...

Worst case scenario, is there a secondary market for permits in Uganda or Rwanda?

Thanks for your answers
CS

ORTPN has sold out gorilla permits for August, however, there is a very active secondary market. Your best bet is to contact Amahoro Tours, they buy more permits than anyone else.

Thanks for your reply, Sarah, I contacted them and we should be able to sort something out.

I've been writting 3 times in recent weeks to these guys regarding Gorillas permit: http://www.rwandatourism.com/primate.htm
Do you know why they are not answering? I need a permit for December.
I know there's still time, but I'm worried that they are not answering.
(using different emails and checked junk folders)

In Africa, people often don't immediately reply to e-mails.
Oral culture is stronger there than here.
So I advice you to make a phone call to ORTPN.

Piotr,

I also e-mailed them a couple of weeks ago and they answered yesterday, so I guess you should recieve an answer at some point

thanks. I'd prefer to take a trek in Rwanda. I received email from a guy, who organizes in DRC, but it's 100$ more expensive (mostly for visas).
