Hi, we are three people visiting Namibia in September/October. Do we have to pre-book activities for Swakopmund (shark fishing, skydiving, quad biking)?? I have sent an email to Desert Explorers Adventure Centre, but never got a response. Would be a disappointment to arrive town, and everything is full for the next week. I heard DEAC is the major company to go with. But without a response, I am looking for others who can answer my question (and a company with better service).

I also have the…

Safari

Hi, does anyone know how much a safari costs in Namibia? I am on a tight budget and I am trying to figure out if it's cheaper to do one in Tanzania or Namibia. Thanks

Windhoek life
Hello Namibia! I'm moving soon to Windhoek and will be there for about 7 months. I'm keen to find out as much as I can about expat life in the city and all other sorts of things I might find useful – weekends away, transport, health, cost of living, banking, etc. I’ve tried looking at real estate sites and expat forums but can’t find much. Thanks for any tips in advance!

I am planning to stay at the Dolomite camp in Etosha for a few days.
Can someone advise
1) if you can visit the surrounding waterholes in one's own car
2) if so, do you need a 4x4 and is there a curfew
3) Can one travel directly from the Dolomite camp to Okaukuejo
thanks in advance

We would love to see flamingos at one of the sites near Walvis Bay - the lagoon, the salt works and bird paradise. Does anyone know which site is the best to see the birds in large numbers? An, even more important: At what time of the year are the flamingos there?

Hello everybody,
I arrived to Windhoek about a week ago and I'm going to stay in Namibia till midst of September. Currently I've been doing my clinical placement at the Central Hospital Complex for about a month or so, but (not only) after that I would love to travel around Namibia (and do as much hiking as possible). Still as a student I'm looking at a kind of a tight budget (making ordinary Safaris and Tours /not a big fan/ around the country pretty much unaffordable) I would be more than happy…

We are doing a self drive in Sept.

Wonder if it would take 5h or more to drive from Walvis Bay to Souss. I know it is mostly gravel unpaved road.

Is the road from Souss to Windhoek paved and how long would it take like 5-6h?

Is it possible to get to Estosha NP from Windhoek in 5h?

Thanks for any advice.

I am planning my annual vacation and will be exploring Namibia from top to bottom. Dates are 16Nov - 15Dec.
Due to work commitments dates are unfortunately fixed, but anything inbetween is open for discussion.
Initial plans are to go south from Windhoek down to the Orange River. From there, northwards through the desert regions.
Turning point is Epupa Falls. Down to Etosha and time permitting a few days in the Caprivi.
I am looking for one or 2 persons to join me on this epic adventure and to share…

I am looking at traveling round Namibia for about 2/3 weeks. I see there are lots of posts about driving through, are there any other ways of getting around. I am traveling alone and dont feel comfortable about driving alone.

I plan to fly into Windhoek from SA.

Windhoek 2days
Etosha National Park 4days
Swakopmund 1day
Sossuesvlei 2days
Fish River Canyon 2days
Kalahari 2days then into Botwanne to head to Victoria Falls.

Can anyone help of link me to a post that covers my answers
