Hi there,

I will join a camping safari in Namibia that goes to Etosha and the Kaokoveld at the end of September until the mid of October. Has anyone of you been to this region recently. What where the nighttime temperatures like? Did they drop below 10 degree Celsius or even below 0 degree Celsius? I need to bring my own sleeping bag for this tour and want to make sure that I bring the right one.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Kind regards
Ingo

Maybe somebody can help with my endless worries:
Its sort of last minute notice. We are a couple arriving to Windhoek on Sep 12.
We want to rent a 4wd + fully equipped camping gear to go for approx 14-18 days (we are flexible with rental dates).
Its hard to find a reliable car rental agency (just by searching online) and I get mixed inputs. Also, all car rentals want a deposit with my credit and they chage 100% of the rent fee (which is approx 1600$) for cancellation since it will be less than 7…

Hi everyone!

I am in the throws of planning a trip to Namibia and wondered if I could get some suggestions/feedback/criticism on my itinerary so far?!

I am short on time as will be arriving in from Botswana (mid-May 2014) and have only 7 nights to zoom around the main sites (this is fixed), and will be setting off from/finishing in Windhoek. I know this is rushed and a lot of driving but its all I have.... So here's what I have so far -

2 nights Etosha Aoba Lodge (East Etosha)
1 night…

Hi there
i am a Spanish lady planning to travel to Namibia for 2wks by myself in the first two weeks of October. I have heard quite many news about the great drought and the great suffering of the locals so I am unsure till what extend it is safe to travel to Namibia when the population is suffering so much. Although I have done lot of traveling by myself (ATW and off the track travelling too) I am concerned that I might be see as an easy victim , both as being a female and traveling by myself.

Hey, we're 2 students hiring a 2x4 to travel Namibia on low budget.
We'll visit Tirasmountain, Sossusvlei, Naukluft-Park, some of the coast, Spitzkoppe, Etosha, Waterberg.
If any of this sounds interesting to you, we'll be happy to have you for at least a part of our trip.
Write me an e-mail: j.wesselmann@live.de!

Hi,
I'm arriving Windhoek today (cardboard box hostel) and I am looking travel partners to do a suggested itinerary from this forum which is:

Windhoek - Etosha - Swakopmund - Walvisbaai - Sossusvlei - Duwisib - Luderit - Kolmanskop - FishRiver - Keetmanshoop - Windhoek

The idea is to rent a car for 14-16 days and save money by whether stay in hostels or camping.

All the best!

PS: on the road of a RWT ;)

I was told that the ATM machine at Windhoek airport only take VISA but not Mastercard. Is that true? Is it better to get the money from ATM vs money exchange bureau?
