Hallo,

I have booked an hotel not far from Solitaire and I was told that my tour to Sossusvlei will start from Sesriem at 6AM
hence I should leave my hotel at around 4h30 and drive the 50 Km along the C19 in the dark
I am a bit scared of having to drive on a non tarmac road in the dark not even counting possible animals and so on
Hence my question: would you dis-advice the driving in the dark or could I stil do it if I drive quite slowly and safe
Any feedback from people having done ths in teh…

My husband and I will be self-driving in Namibia for 5 weeks this coming May/June. We'll be all over the country - from Kgalagdi to Damaraland to the Caprivi. I am interested to hear if anyone has had experience using the Tracks4Africa app on their iPhone. I know that the Tracks4Africa maps on the Garmin are quite good. However, we don't have a Garmin. The description of the iPhone app says that it works, even when you don't have cell phone or internet coverage. Does anyone know if this is…

My wife and I (in our early 60's) hope to drive up to Namibia next year, possibly during late August/early September.

We anticipate camping for most of our 14 nights away, but with 2 or 3 luxury stop-overs to cut the dust.

We've never been to Namibia but we realise we'll never see it all without exhausting ourselves, so it would be helpful if anyone could offer us some sound advice. Good. clean camp sites away from the madding crowd would suit us.
We'll be travelling from Montagu (Western Cape)…

We will arrive at Windhoek International Airport and then follow the route: Eningu Clayhouse Lodge - Auob Lodge - Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. As we have to buy water and some supplies for the first days, we really have to stock up for our stay in the Kgalagadi, as we will stay tehre for 4 days with 5 people and experienced before rather empty shops (no bread, vegetables, fruit) in the park. Any advice on:

-where to shop when we arrive - just some water adn cookies etc.

-where to stock up…

We are heading to Namibia in 8/2014 and are looking for opportunities to do a 2-4 day hiking trip. We've both been to Namibia before, as well as to other African countries, so we know what's involved re safety etc. However there seem to be relatively few places where you can hike unguided and with only 2 people. Any suggestions anyone??

Also I wonder if anyone knows of professional climbing guides in Namibia? We are interested in climbing the Spitzkoppe but when we passed by on our last trip…
