Hi,

I am a photographer and I'll be in Westhoek 16/5 or 17/5. Plan to travel till about 31/5 or 1/6. I am looking at this itineary http://www.namibian.org/travel/safaris/self-drive/budget/makalani.html. Supposed to be a 20 day drive trip but I don't have 20 days so I'll probably cut off some stuff. Or eventually do a 14day http://www.namibian.org/travel/safaris/self-drive/budget/quivertree.html. I don't plan to follow the suggestions exactly but something like what the program suggests.

Hello,

My partner and I would like to spring for one night of luxury accommodation while at Etosha. I have reviewed the NWR's website and cannot reach a decision. It seems that Okaukuejo is a lot busier and perhaps might not be as restful or romantic even if we were in a bush chalet? Any feedback?

Also, given our itinerary and route I am planning on renting a 2WD car. I have heard that it is better to get a 2WD car with higher clearance and better suspension. Not being much of a car person…

Hi

Hi All,

My friend and I have just booked our flights to Namibia for 2 weeks in October (longer i wish).
Anyhoo, we have decided to do the wilddogs northern adventurer safari and end up in swakopmund for a few days.

The thing is I really want to get down to Sossusvlei.
How easy is this to do time wise and can we public transport it fairly easily? it possible to do do it en - route back to Windhoek from where we fly out??
Obviously I wish we had more time..........

Any suggestions would be gladly…

Ok so I know there are zillions of questions about car hire (boring) but I've done loads of searches and I can't find the answer to my question. I want to hire a 4x4 with camping equipment to drive across Namibia in September and can't decide between a normal tent which you pitch on the floor, a roof tent or a bushcamper (where the tent seems to come out of the car!) My two considerations are firstly which is easiest to put up/take down and secondly which is the most comfortable to sleep in…

Hello everybody,

I'm a 23 year-old French girl living in Cape Town for 9 months now. I finished studying in December and before starting working, I'm planning a 2-month trip though Namibia - Botswana - Zambia - Malawi - Mozambique (or part of it) starting at the beginning of May 2009.

I've travelled quite a lot before, in Europe, Canada, China and South Africa, by myself as well as with other people. I love travelling and I love adventure!!
What matters to me is to meet and share experiences…

I have been having a hard time finding enough information with regards to public transportation from Johannesburg to Windhoek.

So far, I understand that I would have to take a train to Kimberly, then a bus to Upington, and another one to Keetmanshoop, and from there another train to Windhoek.

Unfortunately, some websites are not working, so I haven't been able to double check the information I found on random websites... but it appears that most of those transportation means do not operate…

Okay, so it looks like I've got 4 full days in Namibia. At this point, I plan on flying in and out of Walvis Bay (from Jo'burg). Or should I fly into Walvis Bay and out of Windhoek, just to see what Windhoek has to offer?

I absolutely want to see the Sossusvlei sand dunes and, since I'll likely be spending a night or two in either WVB or Swapkomund, perhaps see the dunes near Swap as well.

How is the HI hostel in Swap?

What else...What about the "moon landscape" north of Swap? Any thoughts…

Hi

My husband and I are about to book an overland trip with African Trails from Vic Falls to Capetown through Botswana and Namibia. The trip sounds really good and is a good price but just wondering if anyone has any experience of this company and could reccommend them? There are so many offering similar trips it is hard to decide on one!

Thanks in advance for any comments

Hello Namibia/Botswana lovers,

5th of June are we finally leaving for our Namibia/Botswana trip. Saturday the 6th we land in Windhoek in the morning, July 2nd in the late evening we leave again. That gives us 27 days to spend. We already booked a normal sedan car (4x4 too expensive). We would really like you to criticise our travel schedule. We already did quite some travelling however never on a “selfdrive holiday” basis…so it’s a bit difficult to calculate/”feel” travel distances…

6/6 We…
