Hi All

We are visiting Nambia in November/December this year and I have organised driving up to Etosha for 4/5 days. However we wanted to then drive down to Sossusvlei before heading back to Windhoek. Having looked at lots of other posts I see that it's unrealistic to drive all the way from Etosha, however i'm not sure where to stay on the way down.

Would it be worth stopping at Swakupmond just for the night? or Walvis Bay? we only have 5 1/2 days in total to get down to Sossusvlei and back to…

Hi fellow travelers. Experienced 38 year old male traveling around Namibia for all of July. Thinking about doing some very off-the-beaten trips and looking for people to join me/share expenses. I'm friendly, in good physical shape and voted against George Bush in 2000 and 2004. -- Eric

How much cash should i carry with me? some say i need cash for gas.

where do i change money from USD to NAD?
Also, is it easy to look at the map and find the hotel? i've made reservations throughout namibia but i wonder if the map i get from the rental car company is enough.
How early did you guys leave the hotel for the next destination? it usually takes about 5-6 hours from one place to the next.

I have come across the following GPS in-car tour guide advertised in the magazine of
Namibia Tourism. Bobocampers from whom we are hiring our motorhome says
they have never heard of the device but the TRN website indicates that some hire
companies have them.
Does anyone have experience of it? Is it as helpful as they advertise and what does
it cost to hire?
We leave in 3 weeks for a much anticipated 2 week's tour of Namibia.

Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone applied for a Namibian visa in Lusaka, Zambia? I dont need one (British national) but my Czech girlfriend does and we are not sure if it is possible to get it at the border or must be applied for before at an embassy. Any help would be most gratefully received.
Cheers

We (2 Aussies) plan to travel around Namibia for 7 days, in early September 09 in and out of Windhoek, and would appreciate any information on the following:

  1. Type of camper to hire: Currently looking at Spirit 3 camper or similar. Are these OK for the conditions?
  2. Recommended camper vehicle hire company: currently looking through Britz, Bobo. Any recommendations welcome.
3, Best campsites: along roughly the following itinerary - Windhoek - Etosha/Outjo/Tsumeb - Twyfelfontein -…

Hello,
I will be visiting Namibia from late July to mid August. I have been told the south is relatively malaria free (sossusvlei, swakopmund etc) but what about the north? I will spend a total of 10 days in Palwag, Etosha and Waterberg. Shall I talk to a doctor to get antimalarian medication or is it true (as some travelers report) that winter is mosquito free?

Any advice welcome
Thanks
Giorgos

Hi, we're booked to visit Namibia from 20 December to 3 January. We are a family of four - 2 adults and 2 boys (they will be aged 14 and 11 in December, good travelers). I've been researching furiously for the last few weeks and, like other users of this forum, I'm concerned about how much accommodation will cost - everything seems to be per person with only limited savings for families, especially NWR parks etc.

Our basic itinerary is either a clockwise loop or anticlockwise loop - Windhoek…

Khaudom GR

In the LP Namibia & Botswana it says that the NWR requires parties to travel in a convoy of at least two 4WDs to enter Khaudom GR... does anyone know if this is actually enforced? We're going solo so will have to cut Khaudom if you actually need to be in a convoy...

We'll be in Namibia in a few weeks and I'm wondering how much local cash we'll need to carry. We're travelling from Windohoek-Waterberg-Etosha-Damaraland-Swakupmund. Do supermarkets, petrol stations, and the NWR camps/facilities take credit cards? If not, are ATM/Bankomats widely available?

Thanks for any suggestions or information!
