Hi,
Sorry if this has been answered, but I've just spent 15 mins looking through and can't find it.
I have read that Namibia is lovely during the day in August, quite warm, but can be pretty cold at night. I will be camping and wondering if anyone had ideas of approx temps?
Thanks in advance.

I was trying to arrange a self drive trip in Namibia in August for 2-3 weeks but have run into some problems. I've been told that most lodges are booked up for the entire month. I don't know if this is really the case as I know this only from one agent. They have offered me some tours instead. One example:

I would like to visit Namib desert, Swakopmund, Soussoulvlei, Etosha and maybe Skeleton Coast and Fish River Canyon.

I usually…

I am thinking about travelling to Namibia in July for around two weeks (maybe three) I have been before, but only for a few days. I would want to fly into Windhoek, and then hire a car for two weeks. How old do you need to be to hire a car in Namibia? I will be 20 by the time I go.

I realise driving distances are long, but I would love to go see both Fish River Canyon and drive part of the Skeleton Coast. Would this be feasible or is it just too far to do in two weeks, starting and finishing in…

I was wondering about what the tradition is for tipping in Namibia? Do you tip? If so, who and how much? Such as servers in restaurants, drivers for game drives, house keepers at lodges, etc.?

Thanks,
Stan

My buddy and I are contemplating doing a two night trip in Khaudom, but we have only one vehicle, a borrowed RAV-4. Are we completely insane to try this? I've read the other threads saying it's possible to do Khaudom in one car, but a tiny little 4x4 like a RAV-4?

Alternatively, if anyone wants to caravan with us, we're looking at 28-30 July.

Can anyone recommend a tour to Sossusvlei from Windhoek? I am busing into Windhoek from Victoria Falls and arrive early on Monday, July 27th. I'm looking for a reasonably priced tour that is 3 days or less. I have to catch a flight from Windhoek back to Jo'Burg on Thursday, July 30th. From the little research I've done so far, it seems like most of the tours have fixed departure dates. In my case, I need a tour that either takes off on Mondays or daily.

Since I'm traveling alone and have a…

Two things,

First, my mom just got back from Namibia and said that in the airport she saw a sign for GPS rentals. I will soon be going over and doing a self drive. Does anyone know, I presume these are GPS navigation systems, is that correct? Do you per chance know how much they rent for? We will be going to a couple of villages that are pretty off the beaten path so it might be nice to have.

Secondly, thanks to all of you who recommended Cardboard Box. After your suggestions I suggested…

I'll be in South Africa for a couple of cricket test matches in the winter. After the Cape Town test I have a spare 4 days and would like to go to Namibia. As time is of the essence I would like to see Windhoek and Swakopmund, then back to CT. If anyone with any experience of the place could help me with the following:

1, Minibus travel inside Namibia - cost and safeness?
2, Cheap flights to and from CT?
3, How long to travel from Swakopmund to Fish River Canyon?

Many thanks for any help you can…

Hi everyone,
A few questions. I'd be grateful for help as I've realised I'm very late with my planning.

  1. Firstly, I'm travelling solo to Namibia July 24 to August 17. Is there any experienced traveller who would like to share a car, aiming to go Swakopmund, Namib desert, Spitzkoppe, Damaraland, Sesfontein, Okongwati, and south of Gobabis? I'm more interested in landscape and culture than wildlife. Any particularly good places in Windhoek to hook up with co-travellers?
  2. Advice welcome on…

Hello!

I am looking to organise a short volunteer trip in Namibia. Has anyone done this? I looked at different agencies and places and I like Amanzi Travel with their Noahs Ark wildlife program. I would love to know more from anyone who knows more!

Hope to hear from you soon!

Cheers
