Hi,

I will be in Namibia in May and will have 3 days at the end of my trip. I really want to travel to Sossusvlei. Ideally I would like a minibus or private transport there and back, and work out my own itinerary when I am there. I realise that many people drive there however I am not keen to do this by myself. I can't find any form of just transport (as opposed to transport and tour) to get me there, and the quotes I have received from travel agencies for tours are either only day trips or way too expensive (AU $1700 for 3 nights).

Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone done this before? Surely there is a way, I am tearing my hair out! Alternatively, can anyone recommend a tour agency? I have tried 'The Cardboard box' agency as well as Chameleon Holidays and Charly's Desert Tours.

ANY help appreciated!

i googled and found http://www.african-extravaganza.com/Shuttle/shuttle.html, it's not "transport only" but also includes accommodation, but the price is reasonable (aud 540), so it might be a good choice.

you might also want to have a look at http://www.afrizim.com/Places/Namibia/Shuttle-Transfer/.

You could ask Chameleon Guesthous in Windhoek. This place is loved by backpacker and they offer various safaris also to Sossusvlei. Here the link http://www.chameleonsafaris.com/namibia_safaris_search_results.asp?length=1&accommodated=0&GO=GO

Hi Abbey,

You can also ask Paradisegarden Backpackers in Windhoek, They are also offering all kind of tours; they are a bit smaller than Chameleon or they see if there is otherpeole who are looking for travel mates.

I will be on a farm until May 19th, then I rent a 4x4 to go north of Windoek for 10 days and after to come back south to visit the southern part of Namibia, including Sossuslei. If there not any facility for you, we can get in touch and see if it is possible to manage a this visit.
