On my recent visit to Namibia I went back to the fish river canyon. Having some trouble booking at some of the lodges I ended up at Vogelstrausskluft(german for ostrich gap?) Lodge.
I was very pleased with the friendly and fast service we got at the lodge and at the rooms we lived in witch is just a couple of meters away from the main building. I particularly liked the theme of the lodge. With the brown and natural green colors and the oryx horn lamps lighting the way I was soon in my element enjoying the Namibian sunset.
We took a tour on the second day to the canyon. It was a bit off, but the drive was very good. The guide was very entertaining and explained everything of the veld and the buck right down to the droppings and footprints they leave behind. The fish river canyon was awe inspiring at least. Standing in the river bed looking up at the canyon skyline was an amazing experience, one that I would easily want to go through again.
When we got back at the lodge we were served dinner and with a 5 course meal I was soon munching my way to heaven.
It was a bit hot at night for the power generator did not run at night.
Vogelstrausskluft Lodge is a 4 star lodge and rightfully so. I was very impressed and would like to go there again some time.
