Does anyone have a suggestion on MTC phone service? Need to contact USA from outside Windhoek from the Cheetah Conservation. What phone and sim card or service should we use?

Ask Cheetah people what works for them. No point in getting a service that doesn't reach them.

MTC is probably the best. There areas of patchy coverage in various places of Namibia, but in the main a few KM north or South you get good coverage back. You can also buy a pre-paid computer stick so then you could use skype.

Thanks for the input. The people we spoke with at the center said we can buy a phone at the airport. Just trying to make sure this will work to USA (many are European and the band is different.) We did meet an woman who researches elephants in Central Africa but also travels to the US alot and she said not to worry that phones can be bought easily. For others who are going or sending someone very young by them selves. MTC seems to be the best bet for Namibia. Thanks for the info. It was very helpful.
