Hi,

In october we will be travelling in Namibia for about 3 weeks, mainly camping. How cold do nights get in october, I mean will there still be frost at night ? Is 3 weeks enough to take in all the highlights ? In total we have 28 days but we are picking up our car in Johannesburg (we hope to see a bit of Botswana as well) and delivering it in Cape Town.

Thanks for any advice

Nicky

3 weeks is a good time for Namibia - but it depends what you mean by 'all the highlights'. It is a big country and distances are vast. It also depends whether you want to spend two or three days in one place or keep moving. I would suggest you decide what are the priorities for you and see maybe fewer places but have time to enjoy them. Night times should not be frosty in October - it will be getting hotter during the time you are there. There is lots of advice on this forum on distances and 'must sees'.

Namibia is a wonderful country for driving, but also for walking and just sitting and enjoying the landscape.

3 weeks is a good duration. You will still have to keep moving if you want to see not just the highlights but the more interesting places but lesser visited places such as Kunene, Caprivi etc. October is one of the best times of year. It can get hot, but is often very pleasant, no rain, warm evenings etc. Enjoy.
