Hi

Am hoping to go to Namibia later this year for a couple of weeks. We'll only have a couple of weeks so would like to go on an organised tour so we can see as much as possible and not worry about getting ourselves around. Can anyone recommend good companies that run these trips? I have seen Wild Dogs mentioned here and from their website they look pretty good - any others? We're probably looking at the mid range price range (ie not necessary looking for cheapest, but also not requiring lavish luxury!)

I'd recommend Gap Adventures for Namibia. They do various tours around the country for anything from a few days to a few weeks and do plenty around the 2 week mark.

Something like this http://www.gapadventures.com/tour/DNAN would be a good way to see a lot of the main sights and also get off the beaten track.

I book tours with Gap pretty much everyday and they are a very reliable company that offr something a little bit different. If you'd like to get some more info on a tour like this one in Namibia just drop me a PM and I'll be able to answer your questions.

As an alternative check out the options of Acacia Adventures and Tucan Travel, again both long established with off the beaten track routes in Namibia.

Thanks for the suggestions. Am primarily looking for a Namibia based operator as I am currently based in Africa and it is often more cost-effective to book locally. However suggestions of international operators also gratefully received...

I had seen Cardboard Box recommended on this board. Currently my mother is on a guided tour with them and I have a self drive booked for July. Obviously I can't give you any feedback from the trips yet but they have been very helpful and responsive thus far.

I used Ultimate Safaris(was Tou-safaris when I started making the arrangements) for a trip taken in Feb/09. Tristan made all the arrangements via email. He was always very prompt and responsive. Our local safari Guide/Driver Orlando was excellent! He was very knowledgeable,conscientous and personable. He was a perfect choice for us and highly recommended.
