Just wondering if anyone has found a good route from the UK to Windhoek, since Air Namibia stopped its direct route.
I am travelling from Newcastle, and just looked on the Net and I can get a flight with BA for £1021.00 via Heathrow and Joberg and it rakes 21 hours! whoop, last time I went it was about £625 and took about 10 hours......has Windhoek moved????its now on a par with travelling to Australia.
Any ideas would be helpful..thanks

Air Namibia is still flying direct from Frankfurt to Windhoek- could you get straight from Newcastle to Frankfurt?
Thanks for that suggestion I have just been on Air Namibias website and tapped in my dates (March 2010) flying from Frankfurt and it came up with £2600!! it cant be right ... first class maybe but not crumple class!, if it is right looks like Namibia has moved itsself into an expensive bracket, will visit travel agents at lunchtime and see what they can find.

just found one through that well known firm OPODO!?? for £800 it takes 2 days to get there hahaha, via Amsterdam/Joberg, but at least its under a £1000, come back Air namibia all is forgiven!!

Ouch. My guess it that the Frankfurt flights are now packed with people from the cancelled Gatwick flights, hence the outrageous prices. Maybe they'll realise there is a demand after all and reinstate the Gatwick route? We can but hope.
Actually I've just looked at your dates and it occurs to me you may just be looking too far in advance. I've looked ages in advance for flights before and found prices very high. You might just need to leave it a few months.
Think maybe you are right, I will wait till everything has died down a bit and look later in the year, thanks for your input!

Two thoughts - have a look at Lufthansa and consider ending in J'berg and driving the day to get there.
A quick look on March 2nd for three weeks comes up with £728, but it takes a long time.
London to JNB, maybe Afriqiyah Airways. March 1st - 9th is 474 Euro.
Egypt Air, March 2nd to 23rd - £472.

Change the 'BOS' to LHR and it'll give you UK pounds.
You can't book through this site but it'll give you an idea of the details, then go to the airlines' website and check there. Often it is again cheaper.
