Having read anniemax2's wonderful description of her recent Namibia trip and recommendation, I felt I had to mention the Cardboard Box Travel Company.
I first came across them in 2001 when I started trying to plan an itinerary for 2002. They were so helpful and efficient, gave good advice and really listened to what kind of trip we wanted to do. We had a brilliant holiday, and have returned twice since each time using Cardboard Box. And I have just finished plans for our 4th visit this September. Even at their busiest time, CB have dealt with our queries and requests promptly and cheerfully (at least their emails sound cheerful!). So I can't recommend them highly enough.
We tend to be independant travellers, but being able to choose where to go and have someone to book everything for you is so much more convenient than trying to contact each lodge/campsite individually.
CB also recommended a 2x4 'bakkie' for our first trip, and we have used one each time. We have not needed a 4x4, but the bakkie gives extra road clearance and a great view of the magnificent scenery and wildlife. Andes Car Hire provides the vehicle, which has always been in excellent condition and completely reliable - no problems, not even a puncture.
The help and advice from this forum has been invaluable, too. So thanks to all - especially Alex (Slowcoach) who does not seem to be around so much nowadays?
