We are 2 people visiting Namibia and we are looking to go to Sesriem on the 9th and 10 August but all the campings are already fully booked. Is it possible to camp wild not too far away from the gates? Has someone some spare place on his camping ground? We are going to travel with a 4x4 with a roof tent.
If you haven't found a solution to date, have a look at the campsites of the Betesda Lodge, a bit further afield, but looking nice enough.
I was in the same position last year. Just showed up at the camp and asked people who already had a site if they wanted to share. Then went back to the office and told them what I was doing. Paid the office for myself then split the remaining cost with the people whose site I shared. No problem.
You have to stay at Sesriem if you want to get a permit which will enable you to get thru the gate when it first opens 1 hour before sunrise.
