Hi,

we want to travel next year with a 4x4 through Namibia and Botsvana. We are especially interesting to see animals. I know the dry season is from May-October. When is the best time to travel ? We would like to travel in June or from mid June to mid July ? Is this a good time for animals ? Or would it be better to travel in September/October ? I did some research but there are different statements.

Thank you very much
Nina

The drier the better, in general.

But it depends where you go and what you want to see. Namibia's animals are well spread out ,and often seeing a springbok or kudu or oryx in the distance, will be as exciting as a lion nearby.

You'll understand what I mean in about a year's time.

I was there on a 3 week trip last year for the last 3 weeks in June. Etosha , Caprivi, Chobe , Vic Falls. No problem seeing animals at all, absolutely amazing trip and am planning to return next year.

Hi,

Just be aware that July and August in particular are very busy, as is the South African September holiday. I was in Botswana in April and wanted to make some bookings for later in the year couldn't get any bookings that hung together (ie that allowed me to get from place to place) until October. I think Etosha is likely to be busy at the same times. I'd start making some enquiries re availability and see what's available. I think you will get more choice in October. And it's a great time of year for game viewing in Namibia and Botswana.
