Hello Thorn Tree travelers,

I need some ideas to find accomodation for 5 adults (2 or 3 rooms) for a period of 2 weeks (mid December) in Maputo city center.

Any websites or an hotel list to start browsing for would be great.

All the help is much welcomed,

Hi,

I'm doing a loop to/from Dar in December, with plans to do Malawi N-S or S-N, No. Mozambique and a side trip to South Luangwa via Lilongwe.

This is in my own car.

First of all, I can't get reliable info on best roads/borders to cross in and out of Mozambique. 10 degrees south in Mikindani, TZ has told me the bridge south of Msasi is now open and can be crossed. Has anybody done this? How would that trip in a car compare to the border south of mtwara?

Conversely, I may opt to enter…

Hi there,

my question is simple, is it OK to take € with me to Moz or should I change to US$ at home before flying there?

I ask this because in the LP guide I have they just talk about US$, if not SA Rands for southern Moz.

Thanks and best regards,

Iker

Hello,

My wife and I are Peace Corps Volunteers trying to plan a trip to Nacala, Mozambique toward the end of November. I am having some issues as to where exactly to cross in to Mozambique in order to get to Nacala the quickest. It seems that I can go through Mangochi, Liwonde or even out of Blantyre. I am also unsure of the public transport access. When I get across the border are there busses to Cuamba where I can possibly catch a train? If I can't catch a train can I take a bus to…

Hi Guys

I'm currently trying to pack for a 2 week holiday to Mozambique, I'll be there from this weekend and plan to stick around the south of the country i.e. will probably only go as far as Vilankulo. But I've read that this is the beginning of the rainy season....

How wet will it be, is it mainly afternoon showers or will it be rain on and off all day? Also how cool does it get in the evenings? i.e. am I ok with a hoody and light rain jacket, or do i need a proper waterproof?

Many thanks…

hi there,

We're heading to Mozambique for a two week holiday at the end of the month, we fly into Maputo and will be heading up to Tofo in the second week to meet friends and do some snorkelling and diving, but wanted to go to some other places on the way up there, can anyone recommend places to visit/see, somewhere where there is some life, such as a lively town on the beach, we wet to Zanzibar a few years ago something like Stone Town would be good? Which is the best bus company to take for…

Budget beaches

Hi all,

We'll be driving back to Kenya from South Africa next year (during the dry season). The original idea was to follow the coast all the way up, from SA to Mombasa. But given that we'll be camping and on a pretty tight budget, I'm beginning to wonder what the norther half of Moz will be like. Most of the places discussed in LP seem to be islands with private resorts and the like rather than mainland beaches. I've got quite a lot of photography gear, so I'm unlikely to want to leave the car…

Hi,

Having a hard time deciding between these two destinations (unfortunately we won't have the time / budget to get to both). Neither of us are big divers, but would be up for a little bit of snorkelling. We're wanting somewhere that's picturesque, clean, and romantic (it'll be a late honeymoon), but also don't want to be too secluded, as we do enjoy meeting other people and exploring on our own rather than having to do lodge-organised activities.

If anyone has any recommendations, on…

I am heading to Kenya in Jan 2012, as I already know Kenya and Tanzania I was thinking of making a short visit to Mozambique.

I am a woman travelling solo, like diving. Any suggestions for Mozambique "must see locations"?

Do any flights exist from Mombasa to the North coast in Mozambique? (Couldnt find anything, except Nairobi-Maputo).
Figured out there are no trains travelling from Dar es salaam (Tanzania) to Mozambique.

Open for all input!
Thanx :)
