Hi,

My friend and I are planning to do some diving and soak up beach atmosphere in November. As we don't have much time we are wanting to go to either Tofu or Bazaruto. Just wondering which was the best for diving - I'm wanting to get my PADI so would need a good dive school. Also which one is the less touristy and good value for money? If we can fit in we were also thinking of going to either Pemba or Illha de Mozambique - any preferences and which is the easiest to get to?

Many thanks for…

Hello

My friend and I are planning to hire a car to make a two day trip from Maputo -Swasiland - Kruger - Maputo (perhaps in the other direction). We would be leaving Maputo either on Tuesday 1st or Wednesday 2nd.

To break down costs is anyone planning to make the same trip and would like to join us? We probably have two spare spaces in the car so it would suit a pair of people.

Let us know!

Hi,

I've just returned from a week in Tofo diving and snorkelling and I thought I would share some travel tips:

Visa,- Visas can be obtained from Inhambane airport on arrival. The cost is £55 for British passport holders. I got mine in advance from the Mozambique embassy in London. The cost was £40 plus the cost of two special delivery envelopes. It took 3 working days to process.

Cash- cash can be exhanges for mets at Inhambane. Try and get small bills if you can because change is not that…

I am travelling to Moz in early January for a couple of weeks. I would love to take some portuguese lessons (I am intermediate but would like to improve with a week or intensive one-on-one lessons). I have seen some helpful suggestions for Maputo but none outside of Maputo. Does anybody know of a tutor / Portuguesese language school or institute at somewhere more scenic. Tofo? Inhambane? Pemba? Ilha de Mocambique? Also, in Maputo, I have been trying to track down an email address or web site for…

Hi,

Soon I will be off for some weeks to Mozambique. I understood you can buy for 25$ (or 82$?) a visa on the airport.

I would like to know if it’s possible to pay the visa in Euros? Is it’ useful to take dollars? Any idea how long the wait is?

Many Thanks,

Hi

We are currently in Maputo and are about to head up the coast for a week or so but plan to come back to Maputo and would like to do a 1-2 day trip to Kruger and/or Swaziland. So far we have been quoted 6000meticals per person for either as a one day trip

This sounds quite expensive and wonder if we can get a better deal if we go with a group/organised tour rather than private trip. Please can anyone recommend a company which offers these trips from Maputo or give us an idea of how much we…

Moz on a budget

Hello all.

Haven't seen a thread here that clearly addressed the subject of whether Mozambique can be visited in a rough 'adventure' travel sort of way that doesn't break the bank. All the Moz sites seem to be selling luxury resorts and access to expensive safaris, which are fine for some, but not for me.

How would it compare with travelling around SE Asia, for instance? Any solo traveller (older male) issues worth noting?

Thanks all, for any insights.
