I intend to travel to Mozambique for 2 1/2 weeks coming from Basel (CH) next march.

It says that to get visa you need hotels reservation , however I have not planed exactly where I am going to go and stay.
I am not a tour operator traveller.
is it a problem?
or should I only find a hotel Maputo for 2 nights and see what is going on afterwards?

On Wikipedia, it is written that there is a direct flight from Johannesburg to Pemba, however can't find it, any info on this?
additional question is it…

Hello Everybody,
I am coming Mozambique early January arriving at Pemba and going to Montepuez by taking a taxi, I have heard while going to Montepuez some police will stop and take bribe like 100 US$ for person

should we pay any chargers except visa charge to any body?? Is it safe to argue with police when they take bribe?

After an epic journey from Vilankulos to Ilha De Mozambique I thought I'd share the experience here for future Mozambique adventurers.

If you are going overland from southern to northern Mozambique, you will be travelling for a few days but it is worth the effort as northern Mozambique is so amazingly lovely!

A bus leaves Vilankulo to Beira at 4am from the main bus station in Vilankulo. This journey takes about 10 hours but the bus is not a chappa so is slightly more comfortable.

In Beira you…

Hi all
We are travelling to Giroyondo border and think we will need to stay the night in Chokwe on the way. Does anyone know if there are any accommodation options there? We have a tent- but would prefer a proper bed after a long drive ;o)
Any tips gratefully recieved. LP doesn't even mention Chokwe... which isn't a good sign!
Thanks
Hannah

The guidebooks suggest that there is some good snorkeling in Imhambane and Vilankulo. However, I'll be there in January and wondering if anyone has experience with the waters at that time of year - jellyfish, turbulence, etc. I'd rather not carry my snorkeling gear if it's not likely I'll use it. Thanks. Barry

I´m excited about going to Ilha De Mocambique even though I´m not really sure what to do when I get there. Is it enough to look at the old buildings? Are there other things to do?

Also can anyone recommend a place to stay that isn´t too expensive.

Mozambique visa

Good morning,

I am leaving in 3 days to Jo'burg, SA and one day after straight to Mozambique. I live in Amsterdam now and to get a visa for Mozambique the closest would be Brussels, but I don't know if it's worth te effort and spend over 100 euros for that. I am going by bus from Jo'burg to Maputo, can anyone tell me if they still issue visas at the border? Even if the bus company mentioned we should have them in advance? Also, is there a cance to maybe get it the day I arrive in Johannesburg…

Hi, I am traveling to Tofo and possibly to Ihla de Mocambique from the 24th of March-April 8th, 2012. Tickets are more reasonable at this period, but could it be because of the weather? What is your experience with the weather at this time and does it downpour all day or do you just get a daily shower for an hour?

I researched websites online, most of which has March as part of the rainy season, but I've also read a few sites that has March pretty dry. How have things been these past few…

Mozambique Visa

Hi,
My husband and I are travelling from Botswana to Malawi overland, and obviously have to go via Mozambique.
We will be travelling on Aust. Passports, unfortunately there is no consulate in Aust.
It will be an extreemly costly exercise if we have to get a visa prior to departure.
Is it possible to either get a transit visa, as we will literally be only travelling through Mozambique for 24hours (possibly less), or can we get a re entry visa (may be able to rearrange the holiday so that we can…

RE: Moz. visa

30 day visa on arrival, US$25 (I think, may have changed), takes 5-10 minutes. I've done it both at Pemba and Maputo airports.
