Hey,
I'm planning to visit mocambique (propably in may 2012) but we're quite flexible from where we are coming. right now we're living as volunteers in Lesotho and South Africa and thinking also about going via Malawi or Tanzania (take a flight somewhere there and cross the border overland).
Does anyone know, depending from which country you're coming, where the visa is the cheapest? For example: I heard that some South African borders take R800 but in summer 2010 i paid 30 dollars from Malawi to…

We want to make a trip in SA, than pass the border in Krugerpark (Giriyondo) and driving to Inhambane. From Inhambane to Vilankulo and from Vilankulo to the SA border Pafuri. Our holiday is is begin august.

What do we have to use: a two or fourwheeldrive? And we want to sleep in guesthouses and hotels, is that possible between the coast and the border ? Which road we have to drive? What is the roadcondition in this period and is it save ?

After 2 weeks in southern Mozambique, here´s a bit of advice.

Visa cost have gone up a lot since LP was published. I paid a crazy 675 Rand at the border, with receipt, same price at two different land borders so I don´t think I was tricked. It´s not worth it.

Hotels are mostly overpriced for what you get and if you start bargaining they just stare at you and say no discount in most places.

If you take public transport, be prepared for very early departures between 2 am and 5 am. The white…

My wife and I are planning to go to Tofo Beach in August for several days. In addition to diving, are there any fun day trips in the area to check out?

Hi,

Having read and googled a whole lot of stuff on the Quirimbas Archipelago and Selous in Tanzania I'm desperate to go. The only thing is the 3 weeks I have available are in May. This is obviously the 'green' season in Tanzania but seems to be a good time to go for the Quirimbas. Bearing in mind that we're not super rich and that this is the wet season, how feasible is the following itinerary?

Monday 30th April arr Dar form London
Tuesday 1 May travel Dar - Mloka (for Selous River Camp)
Wed…

Hi I really need someones help. We are trying to organise a honeymoon, having been to S. Africa and loved it - we were recommended Mozambique. However we are both a bit concerned about how relaxing the trip will be - ie not leaving accomodation at night, sharky surf, robberies etc as we both want to relax and enjoy the location. Has anyone been recently? we intend to go in july and august. We also fancied a week on a beach/island(safety freedom) but it appears very expensive in mozambiqu - any…

Anyone experience with travelling from Dar es Salaam to central Mozambique by public transport? Will I find other backpackers along the way? Which routes will take a lot of time by chapas in Mozambique? Which hostels/hotels can be recommended for shoestring travellers?

I will be travelling through Southern Tanzania and Northern Mozambique somewhere between the 20th of February and the 15th of March. I am looking for other backpacker(s) to travel with and do some fun/interesting things along the…
