Hey folks, just wondering if anyone has any recent experience of getting a Mozambique visa at the airport, if it still costs US$25, and how long is it valid for? Using a Dutch passport.

Can anybody tell me how easy or difficult it is to organise dhows up the coast of Mozambique from either Pemba or Quissangara to Mocimboa da Praia or Palma and eventually across the border to Mtwara, Tanzania? Also, how much would one normally pay for such a service?

I, a solo female budget traveller, am going in December to Mozambique and I need your advice on my itinerary.

Day 1 (Sunday): Maputo - Inhambane (by public transport)
My question: is Sunday a good day to travel?
Day 2 : Inhambana - Vilankulo (by public transport)
Day 3: Bazaruto
+My question is: how much does a trip to Bazaruto cost? If this trip wouldn't be affordable, I might would like to drop the trip to Vilankulo and not go further North past Inhambane.

Wife and I have just decided to go to ocean for New Years from Lilongwe (12 days trip) and want advice about roads, camping, and kid.

1. What is approximate drive time from Mandimba (Mangochi, Malawi border post) to Nampula? with baby stops, etc. can this be done in 1 day? Inadvisable to drive at night? (absolutely no problem in Malawi, though conventional wisdom is 'do not drive at night')

2. Any recommended camping in Ilha de Mocambique, Pemba, Ibo, and in between? We can…

I'm goint to Mozambique soon. I will do some diving from Tofo but also want to explore some places north of there such as Vilanculos and Morrungulo Beach. Since I will fly out of Moz from Inhambane airport I will then come back to Inhambane from the north.

Is there a regular car ferry between Maxixe and Inhambane, or do I have to drive the 50km detour on the EN1 south of Maxixe to get to Inhambane?

In this region, what speed can I assume on average, driving with a car?

I'm looking to spend about a week in the vicinity of Tofo in Mid December...and as time creeps on I'm panicking about finding a place to stay.
Where can two people stay in basic but comfortable (not dorms or tents) accommodation in this area. I'm just looking for some recommendations from people who have stayed in the area...Barra /Inhambane are also fine.
Or can you suggest somewhere else that has good diving/ snorkelling and Whale Sharks?

My wife and I recently travelled mainly by public transport from Blantyre in Malawi via Mangochi to Cuamba and on to Ilha de Mozambique and back. I hope it can be of help to others who plan to do all or part of that route in the forseeable future.
