Hi All,

I'm planning to drive from Maputo to the Mozambique/Zambia border in a few weeks. I've got a sturdy 2WD and so need to find a route up there that is do-able without a 4x4.

Can anyone recommend a suitable route? I'm particularly keen to hear whether the road from Tete to Cassacatiza is ok for a 2WD, as this is the only bit on the map that looks llike it might be a bit dodgy!

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Baasas da India

I would like to go diving at the Atoll Bassas da India; however they are all private charters or so I am told. If anyone has chartered a boat for such a trip and has space for 1; I would love the opportunity to join. I am not too restricted by dates but am looking for after 2nd January.

I am based out of South Africa KZN.

Cheers, Elle

My partner and I will be in the North of Mozambique in early December. We want to go to the Quirimbas Archipelago islands, is it possible to do this on a budget? We were wanting to spend about $50 each on accommodation per night, is this even possible? The resorts seem very expensive and I can't seem to find any cheaper accommodation online. Also, what are the must-do and see things while we're there?

Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated!

Dear Travellers,
I'm back from a long trip through Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique and Swaziland by public means of transport, and since I owe you a lot of tips, now I can pay them back with a report, tips, pics, maps.... for those who wants to travel independentely without being isolated in their own vehicle.

In Mozambique I took the famous train Cuamba- Nampula, then Ilha De Mozambique and then Beira, Inhambane up to Maputo.

Hi everybody interested in Moz.
I’ve have been travelling during 3 weeks along the country. Nice and friendly people everywhere. I’m in Vilankulos right now. I’ll write a more extensive post when I back home. Just I’d like to point on something.
Yesterday I went into Magaruque Island (Bazaruto NP) for some snorkeling, sunbathing, sailing … and it was great. I used Dolphin Dhow Safaris which I strongly recommend. My post is a little bit special ‘cause there is a bad report from Sophie in TTF. I’m…

Realistically, how long does it take to drive from the border to tofo/ inhambane in a normal 4x4 vehicle?
I've heard so many differing accounts.
Also,
Is Xai Xai a viable overnight stop on the way or is there anything closer to maputo that is still scenic?

Thanks.

Hi Guys,

I fly to Pemba at the end of December where I plan to spend a few days with the possibility of trip to the Archipelagos Quissanga, is this worth a visit as I will also visit Illa Mocambique later in the trip? From Pemba I plan to head inland to Lichinga and then on to Cobue so I can cross over to the Likoma Islands & Nkhata Bay in Malawi. I have a copy of the LP Mozambique but it's over 2 years old now so some of the info may well be out of date. It mentions…
