I am planning a 2 week trip through southern Mozambique and would like to include a few days of Safari. I will be coming from Maputo and am trying to decide of whether it is worth crossing the South African border to Kruger National Park or if Parque Nacional do Limpopo offers a similar experience? Has anybody been to both parks and can tell me how the compare? Where would you go?
Thank you for your help and happy travels,
Frank
Hi All,
I am planning a 3 week backpacker - public transportation trip to Zambia and Mozambique and my idea is to spend around 10 days in Mozambique entering from Malawi to Cuamba and reaching Nuampula. From there take a flight to Beira and bus hopping stops in Vilanculos and Tofu by public transport eventually reaching Maputo.
Do you think it is feasible in 10 days?
Is that border crossing from Malawi my best option or should I cross directly from Zambia towards Tete?
I don't like the idea of…

I am having trouble getting some reliable information if the lake visa still exists? According to the lonely planet book you can get a 10 day permit that allows you to just stay on the lake for around $2.00. I am traveling from Nhkata Bay to Cobue and will stay in Cobue for 3 days than return to Malawi. Can you tell me if I will require a full visa? And what the cost of that will be? I have a Canadian passport. And any info on a cheap place to stay?
Thanks

Hello all! I'm a first-time visitor to Africa, and am in the planning stages of my trip. I'm not really the rental car type (especially because it seems a tad expensive). I'd ideally like to be able to see northern and southern Mozambique (Maputo, Tofo, Ilha de Mocambique, etc) with public transit (buses…

We have decided we will leave Maputo for our drive back and want to stay somewhere else on our way to Tofo, I am thinking maybe two nights in Bilene? Any other suggestions?
In June, a friend and I will be in South Africa for the World Cup. We've already got tickets and my friend has friends there who will be putting us up. During our trip we've got breaks between matches of something like 3, 3 and 4 days to sightsee. One of the things I considered is maybe going by air to Maputo for 2 or 3 days. We're over 30 years old, white American guys. I am not fluent in Portuguese, but I can speak enough to get by. I can read menus and ask sensible questions like asking…
