This forum looks relativey quiet but hopefully there is someone out there with knowloedge to share.

Planning a road trip along the entire Mozambiquan coast in June/ July, which has been a long time dream. Any recommendations for stops along the section north of Beira to Tanzania ... places you really liked?

Preferably that:
- Are fairly tranquil and not overrun with tourists.
- Have budget end accommodation available eg camping or backpackers.
- Happy to explore away from the beaches as well.

Thanks so much!

depands what you like. My choice: Gorongosa NP, Pebane, Gurue, Moz Island, Pemba, Macomia district. But all places are tourist attractions. What i really enjoyed during my stay in Cabo Delgado is makonde people (places around Chai, Mueda). Just stay in the village and enjoy simple makonde's life! Going to do it again this summer:)
Place to stay, closed to Gorongosa NP (not within NP): http://gorongosa-adventures.blogspot.com/

For me the most beautiful area in Mozambique are the mountains in Western Zambezia (Milange, Namarroi, Alto Molocue at least). However, I have no clue about accommodation.

Thanks for the info, this is really helpful as gives me some ideas for starting research. Not worried about going to tourist attractions as long as they are not massively overloaded, but I guess Moz is never thankfully going to be as touristy as thailand for example.

Forgot to add Angoche but it is a long time since I was there. It has a fantastic archipelago, loads unhabitated or unvisited islands and mangrove, at that time absolutely no tourists or actually any visitors at all.
