Anyone experience with travelling from Dar es Salaam to central Mozambique by public transport? Will I find other backpackers along the way? Which routes will take a lot of time by chapas in Mozambique? Which hostels/hotels can be recommended for shoestring travellers?

I will be travelling through Southern Tanzania and Northern Mozambique somewhere between the 20th of February and the 15th of March. I am looking for other backpacker(s) to travel with and do some fun/interesting things along the way. Itenary will be something like Dar es Salaam, Lindi, Quirimbas archipel, Pemba, Ilha da Mocambique, Nampula and Quelimane. Range: budget/shoestring. Transport: bus, chapa. I have a lightweight tent for 2 people.

Thanks!
Regards, Sander

Hi there!

I hope your trip went well!! I'm travelling to northern Moz in nov/dec this year, was planning to use public transport and had not planned to lug a tent around with me. How did you find it travelling the area on your own? Would you recommend I take a tent afterall?

Any advice/recommendations much appreciated, and if anyone reading this is travelling the region around the same time and wants to team up let me know!

Cheers,

Anna
