Hello,
I'm would like to take a trip from Maputo to Kruger, staying at a lodge for 1 or 2 nights. The tourist agency Mozaic and Dana both have day trips to Kruger, but overnight seems to be dependent on if anyone other people are thinking of taking the same trip. To organize it for 2 people seems to be very expensive.

Does anyone else know if there are any tour agencies that provide overnight trips to Kruger? We do have an option to do Maputo - Kruger - Joburg instead of coming back to Maputo.

Also if anyone knows any good low to midrange accommodation options in Kruger if would be great if you can let me know.

Thank you!

No need to go on an organised trip - just hire a car and pop across. I've done it as a day trip but one or two nights would be better. Book acommodation on http://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/

Thank you for the link! The border crossings are hassle free? A friend of a friend drove into Kruger on their own as well. I guess it is quite a common thing to do? Without a guide you can, find yourself around, see the major animals and be safe?

I've only been to the one in Kenya where there were no visible roads.

I've done Kruger with a guide, and on my own in a car, and it really is not the same. There is just so much there that people who have not studied for decades don't know. If you only have one chance of seeing Kruger it would be a waste to do it unguided. The other big drawback is that guides know where to find all the animals. The first time I went there by car I spent two days and I saw loads of deer, elephants, and giraffes. But one day with a guide we saw crocodiles hunting deer, lions, hippos, and so much more.

The border is fairly stress free, however not very clear which forms you must sign etc. If you are crossing from Mozambique you must get your passport stamped AND fill out the form that says you are temporarily "exporting" the vehicle. This paper you must keep for the return. Similarly on South African side, you need to stamp your passport and then fill out the form for your vehicle. The biggest hassle are the guys trying to earn money showing you how to do this.

Hi, could any of you recommend an agency/tour guide in Maputo to do a day trip to Kruger to please? I am working in Maputo for a short time and would like to try and do a day trip or overnight but not sure who I can go with as I will go alone and don't have my own vehicle.

Samurai girl, did you go? Ozzieinmozzie can you recommend a guide/company? Thanks!
