I´m excited about going to Ilha De Mocambique even though I´m not really sure what to do when I get there. Is it enough to look at the old buildings? Are there other things to do?

Also can anyone recommend a place to stay that isn´t too expensive.

Hi Pete, Nice you are planning to visit Mozambique. We are specialised in Tanzania and Northern Mozambique. Ilha de Mozambique is one of the highlights as you will get the feeling being the first one visiting the 'island'. Mainly historical stuff there in terms of attractions, visit the museum, looking at the buildings, and just wandering about generally. People were friendly. I stayed at Casa Luis, about as budget as it gets there but ok. Luis is a nice guy.

If you really are on budget, you can try to get accomodation in locals houses. I did it years ago and it is really easy (there are many people walking around). Just ask the price at first. Enjoy the Ilha!
