Quick question:

If you're driving into Maputo on the highway from Komatipoort, how well signposted is the city centre? I'm on my own and I don't want to get lost in the 'burbs if I can avoid it. Last time I was there - about 8/9 years ago - I was in a minibus from the airport and, from memory, I don't recall seeing a signpost or road sign anywhere. Have things got any better?

Also, when you're heading out of town and looking for the EN1 north, is this pretty obvious?

thanks all.

Both directions are signposted quite well. From Komatipoort your direction will be "Centre", north on the EN1 it will be Macia, XaiXai or Beira.
I've been there two times, and I never got lost, no matter from which direction I came.
A difference it'll be inside the centre, because a lot of signs with streetnames are hidden somewhere inside the trees or are fallen off a couple of years ago, but to drive into the centre, you only have to drive straight on.

Good luck, fengi

Yes it's just straight on and the road becomes 24th Julio. To go north don't assume that Julius Nyrere becomes the main road - it takes you down past the fish market, past the Costa del Sol and peters out......
