I intend to travel to Mozambique for 2 1/2 weeks coming from Basel (CH) next march.

It says that to get visa you need hotels reservation , however I have not planed exactly where I am going to go and stay.
I am not a tour operator traveller.
is it a problem?
or should I only find a hotel Maputo for 2 nights and see what is going on afterwards?

On Wikipedia, it is written that there is a direct flight from Johannesburg to Pemba, however can't find it, any info on this?
additional question is it possible to fly from Pemba to Zanzibar? or is it a problem? administration, customs etc.

in case no D.Flight from Jo'burg to Pembas. How much will cost a flight from Maputo to Pemba ( same if possible from Pemba to Zanzibar)

Thanks

For visa on arrival you don't need a hotel reservation but the name of a hotel can be a bonus.

SAA Express fly JNB-Pemba (although they have a seriously crappy website) and LAM fly Pemba-Dar where you'll have to change planes to get one on to Zanzibar.

Thanks Mrs_Trellis

question is DAR worth a visit or better transit and fly directly to Zanzibar?

I haven't been to Dar in ages so I'm not the best person to ask but I'd have thought it depends on how long you have overall and what time the flight arrives - just looked on LAM website and it seems to be 14.45 so you will have time to catch another flight on the Zanzibar if you wish.

Mrs_Trellis
Thanks again
Yes, SAA website is crappy indeed, in addition with the prices ( one way ticket JNB - Pemba ) costs same as FRK Germany and back JNB ( even when not choosing a precise date.
Maybe prices better when in JNB airport?
