I crossed into Moz at the Kosi Bay border gate to go to Ponta do Ouro on January 7th, 2010 and the Visa fee was only R189, about US$27. It would have cost me around US$100+ to get one from Washington DC on short notice in December. It was absolutely no problem and we went through quickly despite a fairly long line. I've been told that this Visa fee is only valid at the Kosi Bay gate. The border crossing closes at 10 pm and the travel guides are true about recommending 4-wheel drive for the roads. It is deep sand all the way to Ponta do Ouro, and to Maputo too, I'm told. The scuba diving was excellent during the week we were there.
