Just thought I'd add this up here for anyone interested - someone recently commented on my blog to let me know about another Arabic school in Morocco (which teaches both MSA and Moroccan Arabic, or darija): Qalam wa Lawh. It's located in Rabat.

My husband and I are thinking about a 4 night trip to Marrakech in February 2008 for our wedding anniversary. I know little about Morocco and am currently researching where we should stay and in what sort of accommodation.
Our reasoning for Marrakech is that we figured it may be fairly warm in February and we just fancy a few days, without the kids, relaxing in a bit of sun doing little else but eating, reading and having a few drinks not too far from the UK.

If we were to stay in a Riad, do we…

My girlfriend and I were going to leave to travel around in mid September, and well she thought she would surprise me and buy us tickets to Morocco, I have always wanted to go there so its awesome...the problem is....my passport expires on January 23rd. Am I screwed? Everywhere I go it says my passport MUST be valid for at least 6 months...what if we have onward tickets going to London and then Canada, is that enough to prove that yes we are going to leave after 1 month? Is there anything I…

Hi All,
After reading through several posts on the dunes Im still a little bit perplexed....I can visit either but am having a hard time deciding which.
I guess you could say what I'm looking for is
1) Spending a night at a quiet place ( ie only 1 tour group ) to see the sunrise
2) Really high dunes - I want to try sand-boarding big time
3) A tour to combine both of these with 4WD and a brief camel ride

We are only 2 people - would it be possible to organise a tour that would combine all this ? Im…

I have heard that the train from Marrakesh to Casablanca can be late.

My tour ends in Marrakesh on Oct. 27, I have a 1:15pm flight to Casablanca, the next day, Oct. 28. Is it possible stay another night in Marrakesh, get up early and get a train into Casablanca and still make my flight?

Or should I just take the train in the night of Oct. 27 and stay the night in Casablanca?

Also, can I just buy a train ticket at the train station or should I reserve online?

Thanks in advance...

My wife and I will be in Morocco for two weeks in October and are trying to plan a trip to Erg Chebbi for several days. We would prefer to leave from Fes and arrive in Marrakech after the desert trek (or vice versa). Is it better to arrange our own transporation to get to Merzouga (and then do an overnight desert tour at Erg Chebbi) or should we do a tour starting from Marrakech/Fez so that transportation is included. I don't know how difficult it is to get to/from the dessert on your own…

A friend and I are planning a 4-6 week trip to Morocco in December and January. We want to rent a private furnished 2 bedroom apartment or house with a kitchen during our stay.

We haven't yet settled on a place, but Agadir, Asilah, Oualida, and Essaouira are on the top of our list.

Has anyone here had experience finding longer term rentals in these areas? What are general prices? Are there any housing recommendations? Is it easier to find the type of housing we seek in some cities over…
