In case anyone's interested in doing the same, I walked this route, early one morning last December

It's entirely feasible provided the weather is not too hot, you allow yourself enough time (around 1:30 hours), you're traveling light and you've got a satnav on your phone, or at least a very good map

I set off around 6:30 am from the Jemaa el Fna, the temperature was pleasantly cool and the roads not too busy

I got some great views of the sun rising over the Atlas mountainous as I strolled along

If you want to get a drink or something to eat, make sure you do so within the first five minutes of leaving the square as there isn't anywhere else until almost at the airport

If you need to answer a call of nature there isn't anywhere along the way either, except for where it's possible to nip into an olive grove roughly half way along

Thanks for information, but I think there are better walk than just to airport? LOL

We travel because we need to. Because the distance and difference are the secret tonics to the creativity. When we get home, home is still the same, but something in our minds has changed, and that changes everything.

..... I've walked to the Airport from the Casbah, the route is of interest passing the Olive plantation on Avenue Guemassa. Nearby is the Pavallion et Jadiens de la Menara, from the Tombeaux de Saadiens about 3km., nearer to 5km. from Place Jemma el Fna, a good healthy walk, I recommend it, best done without luggage.

I agree entirely. There are nicer walks

However, I had plenty of time at my disposal and just fancied walking to the airport to catch my flight home, rather than get the bus as usual

The walk turned out to be quite pleasant and having got some exercise, I arrived at the airport on time, feeling nicely relaxed and unstressed
