I am looking to do some trekking either in the M'Goun Area, roses valley or the Ouirgane and Imlil area in November

Can anyone give me some feed back on which one would be the most colourful and the best given the time of year

cheers

The M'Goun may be inaccessible then due to snow. I was up at Bou Thrarar near El Kelaa des MGouna ie valley of the roses area, in January. That was pretty good hiking in the vallies but no other hikers at all! Imlil is popular (and higher) and there are plenty of good hikes and it's very sociable but somehow you don't get a big impact because everyone is so used to seeing trekkers etc. If you have time, you could consider the anti Atlas around Tafraoute.

Imlil is the most challenging hiking I've done in Morocco but the less popular areas like Ijoukak and near Tazzarine were more memorable. If it's your first time you probably can't go wrong with Imlil.

Hi - Thanks for that

In terms of challenging we are not wanting anything too serious - probably something at a moderate level

I dont want to be doing mountain goat stuff - re Ijouk near Tazzarine or the Anti Atlas aournd Trfraoute are you able to stay in gites?

Cheers

Once you start heading into the mountains anywhere in the Atlas and anti Atlas you will get climbs. There's a gite about 1 km from Ijoukak on the river Agoundis you but you would have to carry your stuff or find transport. There are hotels in Tazzarine but it's a long boring hike to the mountains. And it's bleak and cold in winter. Use local taxis. And you definitely need the series of High Atlas maps. There's a well known auberge outside the town where they do treks from but not in winter so far as I know. Alot more places including gites in and around Tafraoute - and the weather is much better in winter. And there are less demanding hikes. But the same can be said of Imlil. The bottom line is you never quite know till you get there. It's the same for all of us. I'd choose a couple of places you like the look of after a google search and give them a try.
