Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anybody has travelled through Morocco during Ramadan?

What were your experiences like? Is it hard to get around? Buses? Trains? Grand Taxis? Business hours?

Thanks

Business hours vary somewhat, so just check them out for the post office and banks, but travel schedules don't change. BUT try not to travel at the end of Ramadan as it's nearly impossible to do so when people are going home for/back to work after the three day feast. Great time to be there otherwise.

This will probably sound stupid, but I've read that when you travel via train or bus, you should bring food to share with other passengers. I assume this isn't the case in daytime during Ramadan - is that correct? I am planning on taking a 5 a.m. train from Marrakesh to Fes. Is it ok to eat right away if it is still dark? Should I bring food to share in the early morning? Do I have any options to eat (other than sneaking a quick health bar in the loo)?

theramgod -

I'd prefer to be sensitive to the local culture - much in the same way that I won't be running around in skimpy clothes.
