Thanks so much for all the wonderful help, advice, suggestions and funny anecdotes :)
I couldn't find a hard copy guide book before arriving in country, but I didn't need one with all the great contributions you have offered on this forum - Thank you!!

This section of the forum is a great example of how the LPTT should work. There are many other sub-sections of this forum which are pretty toxic ( yeah, looking at you Thailand and other SEA countries). Regular posters on those forums should pay a visit here to see how it is done!

Thanks guys & gals. 5 more days here in Marrakech and then I'm done.
Keep up the great work.
All the very best to you all!

Cheers,
Steve.

PS, sorry to anyone missed off that list - thank you also :)

We travel because we need to. Because the distance and difference are the secret tonics to the creativity. When we get home, home is still the same, but something in our minds has changed, and that changes everything.

Thanks. It's so nice when someone comes back to acknowledge the members. It was a pleasure to help even in the limited way that I did.

I seem to recall you are jetting off to SE Asia next, if you happen to land in Bangkok I can recommend the Thai Song Greet Hotel, near Hualampong railway station, it was my favourite stopover back in the day, in common with most small budget Thai and Malaysian hotels the restaurant kitchen is at the front door, so you can watch your dinner being cooked!

Yes, I'm heading to Thailand. Landing in BKK.....will spend a few days there as I quite like the city. Then train up to CM and will cycle northern Thailand and then over in to Laos and then back to Thailand for a bit and then home in time for Xmas :)

I've been recommended a place to stay in BKK that is bike friendly....ie, they let you leave bike boxes and luggage behind in safe storage, plus the owner is a bike enthusiast, which helps!
If you're ever back that way, this is the place http://www.shantilodge.com

I'm really looking forward to some Thai Food....I love their cuisine.

Thanks again for all your help....PM's included.
I still think you all should pool that great knowledge you have and write "The Alternative Guide to Traveling in Morocco"
Combined, how many years experience do you all have??

I first came to Morocco in 1969. I was 17. I've been coming back ever since and living here for nearly 8 years now.

Thanks to you gailca for all your great help also!!

I sent a parcel home to NZ from the Marco Poste office in El Jadida. It was little over 3kgs and the price was a trifle over 400dir!
The person I dealt with spoke very good English, he packed the items and sealed the box in front of me and was very thorough with the paper work etc giving me my receipt and a copy.

Maybe I'll beat it home??

Will definitely report back when it arrives.....fingers crossed :)

..... Steve, an incident today where a dog tried to chew my bicycle tyres reminded me of a similar incident near Tatoudannt long ago.... did you have any problems with loose dogs on your mammoth road trip.
