Will be traveling from Malaga Spain to Fes by bus/ferry/train in late August, for a week stay in Morocco. My US passport expires Jan 2008. I have heard that you can be denied entry if your passport expires within 6 months, though no official website seems to state this. Anyone know about this? I will be carrying a return plane ticket--Malaga to US--for the end of my trip August 30. Would this help in the event there is question about my soon-to-expire passport?
Any advice about quickest way from Malaga airport to Fes would also be welcome--bus to Algeciras, ferry to Tangier, and train to Fes so far seems to be the best option. Can anyone confirm? Anyone think it's faster to ride Malaga ferry to Nador and then bus/train to Fes from there?

The 6 month rule is pretty standard OFFICIAL POLICY for most countries - ideally you should renew your passport without question .However in practice you should be ok if you have quite a few months left , like you , though its down to the actual immigration person you get on arrival and departure - Assuming that you havent been somewhere like israel and assuming you have some blank pages in your passport . Morrocco has decent relations with the U.S so again that should help . However at the end of the day you could still be asking for some hassle when leaving the country , and if you got a real jobsworth they would be within their rights to refuse entry . I havent done the FEZ route but am under the impression algeciras-tangier or tarifa-tangier are the best options

I did Malaga to Fes a few weeks ago. I left early in the morning around 7 am. Got to Algeciras about 10-10:30 and on a Ferry to Tangier at 11. 2 plus hours to Tangiers, petit taxi to the train station and was in Fes around 5pm.
Now, coming from the airport - I'm not sure what time you get in and all that - but there is a bus to the Bus Station in Malaga that takes around 25 minutes I think (or a cab, which is half the time, and was about 7 Euros I think). I would check all relevant schedules, but if you're flight gets in before noon, I think you should be able to get into Fes on the same day, just a bit late.
Have a good trip.
