Hi, Everyone,
Two couples are planning a Moroccan trip for one month, either fall or late winter. Need help with itinerary. We originally were thinking of hiring a car and driver but from what I have read it may make more sense to just rent a car and self drive. Opinions please as well as itinerary suggestions. Thank you. Carol

Why don't you read a guidebook first because with one month, you can visit a great part of the country but the places depend also of your interests. It's not only the Imperial cities but many more places. A round trip is the best option.

I am agree with Michel, to start your trip you need to study a little about what to see and do, in guidebook LP for example you find even suggestions to the different trips. Come back then with more specific questions.
You not need a driver, if you can drive then rent only a car and drive self, it is easy, not difficult. Roads are good, signposting also. Follow only the rules because there are police controls on the way. Don't drive in darkness and count with big distances, so do not too packed itinerary so you can also enjoy and not sit only in the car.
Lots of French, Spanish, Italian, retired couples spend months with their motorhomes in Morocco in the winter, driving by themselves ...
One place i recommend is Ait Bouguemez especially early spring, mountain countryside, welcoming 'gites'.

thank you for replying. you are totally correct that I need to plan an itinerary before embarking on this journey. I will get a reliable travel guide and go from there. I was happy to see that it will be quite easy to drive ourselves as opposed to hiring a driver. May have other questions as the trip planning progresses. Thanks again. Carollee
