Me and my boyfriend are going to Morocco for 10 days the coming august. We are going to start from Marrakech.
I've got few questions right now..
After a couple of days in Marrakech, we'd like to spend few days on a nice seaside to relax. And we've thought to go to Essauira, that for what I've understood is quite a popular destination. Any better seaside destination? Maybe not too crowded and with a nice sea? Suggestion welcomed here.
Then we'd like to head south from there to see a less touristic Morocco. Could it be dangerous to head far south? Any unmissable place to go and see going to the subsaharian regions? Or far south?
Else... could it be difficult to find places to stay during august?
To move freely we thought of renting a car in Marrakech. Anyone knows a cheap, honest car rental in Marrakech?
Then, we'd like to spend also a couple of days in the desert with tuareg people. Where about should we go, to do that?
Thanks
ciao grazie :-)

Essouira, said my friend who lives there, has nice beaches and plenty of Germans there enjoying them! If you only have 10 days that may not allow you much time to explore. Why not see Fes, Rabat, Moulay Idriss, Volubilis? If you want to visit places less populated by tourists you are going to have to spend a bit of time getting off the beaten path. I recommend the villages and ruins for exploring for such a short time.
It's August. Everyone is at the beach. Essaouira is nice enough, but forget about finding something less touristy, unless you want to head into the Western Sahara. And you will probably want to book ahead for any coastal destination.

thanks guys for your help. still looking for a better not too overcrowded beach.. I'm sure there is better than essaouira, and sharing the beach with loads of germans.. I've got nothing against them.. but I'm trying to get to a less spoiled place. What about going south into western sahara.. will we need a four weel drive? Is it easy to go there?
The beach at El Jadida maybe? Just 2 hours from Casablanca- charming little town, no tourists when I was there, few locals on the beach.

You don't need a 4x to get to the Western Sahara - the CTM and Supratours buses can take you to Ad-Dakhla or Laayoune.

Essaouira is a very nice city, it has a lovely Medina and a great beach (though easily windy), and it's still very different from the touristic factory of Agadir.
Desert : the usual path ois travelling from Marrakech to Ouarzazate (lovely landscape) across the Atlas Mountains, and then to Zagorah, and from there you can go in the desert and the sand dunes.
