Hello!
I'm planning on travelling to Morocco between May to Septemeber and staying in Marrakech for the first time. I am super interested in experiencing the Hammas and was wondering what are the most affordable ones (max 200MAD). Are they all separated by gender? What are some things I should know, bring, or be aware of before going? Thanks in advance!

Traditionally, houses in the medina didn't have bathrooms and whilst people would have a daily strip wash at home, they would go to the hammam for a proper scrub two or three times a week. Yes, separated by gender, very much a social affair and really inexpensive, like 10 dh or so.
If you want someone to soap and massage you it will be quite a bit more, 100-150dh maybe but you will be stretched limb from limb, and pummeled to within an inch of your life for that money. Bring towel, plastic shoes, soap, and spare knickers. Hotels offer a hammam experience but this is very much an upmarket 'spa' and just not as much fun.
